New Centre – The district Bahnhofstrasse Boeblingen as an impulse generator for the development between large-format service units and small-scale residential buildings In the 1960s, one of the first supraregional shopping centres in Baden-Württemberg was built in Boeblingen. It was expanded again and again, but since the late 1980s it was increasingly afflicted with problems that had an impact on the entire environment. The area of the ” Lower Suburb ” developed in the last decades to a difficult area, which was characterised by stagnation. With the construction of a new centre directly at the railway station, this area was elaborately designed as a redevelopment area and the Bahnhofstrasse as the core area.
Mediation between scales The almost 80 residential units large ensemble is developing above a base with trade and services. The structure was developed from the urban planning parameters of the surroundings and from the different typologies of the three independent structures. The buildings are perceived from the outside as a unit and have a differentiated character in the courtyard and to the south. In this way, they mediate both creatively and functionally between the scales. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.
