Tourism landscape – the concept of royal castles as an interdisciplinary, holistic strategy for a cultural landscape shaped by two million tourists per year. The concept covers a wide range of different tasks. An important role is played by the development and parking in connection with the surrounding landscape and the village infrastructure with the aim of guaranteeing all visitors a clear and simple orientation. Another central component of the strategy is the ascription of the topics monument protection and inventory activation. The overall strategy also includes the integration of necessary functions and events into the “Neuschwanstein” experience as well as a new visitor centre and the design of an overall media presence. In a cautious way, the scenic and cultural significance of the place is addressed and not only a thematic but also a spatial connection of all elements is achieved.
