Project Description

1st Prize in the Urban Design Competition for the Realisation of Residential Buildings on the Former Hautana Area in Boeblingen [1990] | ” Award for good buildings ” BDA 996 | Design Award of the Wuestenrot Foundation 1995

Quality design and economical use of space on the former Hautana area in Boeblingen. The complex consists of five residential buildings with 117 apartments and 400 m² of usable commercial space. The differentiated range of apartments includes one- to four-room apartments and 31 assisted living apartments for the elderly.

Future-oriented The central idea of the urban design is the horseshoe-shaped arrangement of the five residential buildings, which are well connected by public roads. Exits from the central stairwells make it possible to reach the green area with a small lake, which is intended for joint use. The ground floor apartments have terraces and small gardens facing the quiet courtyard. The quarter presents itself as closed in its external appearance and is well integrated into the differentially designed environment. The complex meets modern ecological requirements without excessive effort. The density of the construction shows an optimal inner-city, economical use of space.
