Project Description

Modernisation of the Hanns-Martin-Schleyerhalle [2006]

The Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle – one of the biggest multifunctional halls in Germany. During the redevelopment of the hall, the east façade was dismantled and a three-storey intermediate building was connected. The gallery area was enlarged and the hall corners were extended for additional catering areas. The increase in visitor capacity by 3,000 seats was achieved by a second spectator stand and the superstructure of the cycling track in the curves with dismountable grandstands. All in all, seats for approx. 17,500 spectators can now be offered at major events in combination with the new Porsche Arena. Several escape routes out of the hall were newly created.

Sophisticated coordination The redevelopment of essential parts of the building was carried out simultaneously: Supporting structure provided with fire protection, roof surfaces renewed, floor coverings and toilet facilities renovated. Parts of the technical building equipment were renewed and brought up to today’s technical standard. In order to meet the tight time frame of 4 months, all components had to be built simultaneously. It was indispensable to have close coordination between the involved companies and the hall operator.
