Project Description

1st prize Limburg car park competition [2009]

Park + Ride at the ICE train station – Optimal orientation through transparency and clarity. The car park was designed as a two-part parking system. Six mezzanines are offset and connected by two double ramp constructions. The car park offers a total of 573 parking spaces.

Exploitation For pedestrians, the car park is accessed via a main staircase with elevator at the entrance and exit. Two further stairwells along Londoner Strasse provide a safe way out from the parking decks. The light gap that separates the split levels illuminates the lower floors and additionally ventilates the car park. Due to the heavy use of the car park at peak times, two entry lanes were planned for the building. Thanks to their length, they provide a sufficient buffer to prevent traffic jams on the road.
