Retractable and extendable grandstands enable the realisation of international indoor athletics events in the Arena Leipzig. The large, multi-functional hall is located in the northwest of Leipzig city centre in the immediate vicinity of the central stadium. Its structure, which is positioned across Jahn-Allee, establishes urban planning relationships on all sides. A ground-level, head-side arrangement of the side halls enables the construction of a continuous entrance hall in direct extension of Gustav Adolf Strasse coming from the city centre. Depending on use, the hall can accommodate between 7,000 and 12,500 spectators. The hall is used by the German Federal Sports Centres for various disciplines, for school and club sports and is designed for major events of all kinds.
