Landmark with a long-distance effect – a stadium as a symbol of identity for the city, the club and its fans. We planned a multifunctional stadium with a capacity of 41,500 spectators and the associated training facilities for the Turkish first division club Trabzonspor on an artificial peninsula west of the city centre of Trabzon.
In addition to a sports hall and a tennis court for 3,000 spectators each, a superior master plan includes additional space for hotels, restaurants and leisure facilities as well as an exhibition centre with a congress hall, a business park and a train station for long-distance buses.
The supporting structure developed for the stadium is a modular folding structure covered with a translucent membrane. Situated directly on the shore of the Black Sea, the stadium body blends into the mountainous landscape through the unfolded crystalline shell.
